A default installation of VMEP can only be configured to use one Sage 300 database at a time. To get around this issue it is possible to copy one installation to another folder and configure that copy to use another database/company. You will have to use different URLs to access the different companies.
Note: Accessing multiple companies brings a lot of memory overhead with it and good planning is necessary. This configuration is only recommended for 3-4 companies maximum. Please contact Technisoft to review this procedure with our technician before performing it.
The required steps are:
1.Regard your current VMEP installation as the main installation.
2.Run Rebuild online tables on the new database/company as described earlier in this document.
3.Copy the installation folder (normally c:\program files (x86)\Technisoft\Employee Portal 2/3)
4.Run the configuration tool to create the new IIS setting and to point it to a different company. Make sure you select different virtual directory and application pool names that the original installation.
5.Apply the other post installation steps as described earlier for configuring IIS settings.
For a future upgrades, you upgrade the main installation as described in this guide and then copy files to this new folder, but make sure not to overwrite the web.config file and other modified files in this folder.
