Technisoft Service Manager’s Advanced Scheduling product can gain greater speed in reading Sage 300 database information which is stored in Microsoft SQL Server (and SQL Express) databases via the “SQL Direct” mode.  This mode allows Advanced Scheduling to communicate directly to the Microsoft SQL database by bypassing the Sage 300 “View” layer, thereby removing one layer of complexity from the data loading process.

To be able to use the Advanced Scheduling’s SQL Direct mode, the Sage 300 database must be a Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft SQL Express database in which both Sage 300 and Technisoft Service Manager have been installed and configured in.

Credentials for the Microsoft SQL database must be known.  This can be achieved by either knowing a valid user name and password for the SQL Server, or by having integrated security already establish for same.  Furthermore, the account under which Advanced Scheduling will connect as must also have been granted “read” permissions to the database in question.

Please consult the Microsoft SQL Server documentation for information on how these activities are performed if more information is required.
