To upgrade Field Portal 1.1 or 2.X with a new build of version same version follow this procedure:
.Take a copy of existing custom.config file (This is a precaution as the installer should leave the file intact during uninstallation and reinstallation)
.Take a copy of other modified source files like style sheets, Translation, Search or Finder files which has been modified.
.Run the new installer (there is no need for uninstalling as the previous version will automatically be uninstalled)
.Copy back the previous custom.config file if it has been replaced with the default one.
.Run Configuration Utility to confirm core configuration settings and so it can read the Shared Data Directory setting and write it to the Field Portal configuration file.
.If upgrading a Default type installation, reapply IIS settings like Authentication and Physical Path user, and optional Upload folder virtual directory.
.Check configuration of other optional configurations like report printing.
.Test application in a web browser
.Re apply custom modification if any, after comparing the changes to the new source files.
10. If you have applied special globalization or date and number formats, these plus IIS SMTP E-mail settings must be re-applied.
.If you have used any Field Portal versions prior to 2.7 then you need to empty the client browser cache after upgrading to utilize Field Portal's enhancements made to caching configurations.
